Born in Midland in 1978, Amanda (Mandy) White is an award winning Aboriginal artist of Yamatji/Australian/European heritage. She was raised in Guildford, Western Australia and continues to live in the Perth foothills. Mandy's art career began in her 30's when she started attending art classes at DADAA Midland. Over the subsequent decade Mandy has become a passionate, award-winning artist and a strong role model for artists with disability. In March 2024, Mandy travelled to the United States and had her work showcased at the Outsider Art Fair in New York city. Other career highlights include winning the prestigious Joondalup Invitational Art Prize in 2021 and her sculpture 'Barking Owl' is currently featured in AGWA's Balancing Act First Nations exhibition. Mandy has won several awards with As We Are and the Autism Association, she has had 6 original works acquired by the City of Stirling, AGWA has also acquired a 2 works on canvas and she received a High Commended Award at the 2022 Belmont Art Prize. Her public art commission of 3 brightly coloured sculptures sits proudly outside Midland Gate Shopping Centre. In 2024 she had works in Form Gallery's Represent – Aboriginal Figurative Practice in Western Australia and PICA's HighVisAbility, as part of the AWESOME festival.
