A Glimpse of Light
Noongar and Yamaji photographer based in Perth. A young father at the early stages of his artistic career, he is driven by a deep curiosity for the unseen and often overlooked moments in the world around him. Drawing inspiration from his cultural heritage and personal experiences, Wes aims to capture the raw, unspoken emotions and hidden beauty within the environment. Though Wes is relatively new to the art world, having only begun to publish his work in 2024, his photography speaks with a maturity and sensitivity that reflects his unique perspective. With a particular focus on the unexpected and the ephemeral, his images often evoke a sense of feeling and place, inviting viewers to pause and consider the connections between nature, culture, and memory. Through his lens, Wes explores the landscapes and moments that others might overlook, seeking to reveal the stories embedded within them. His work is a personal exploration of identity, connection, and the power of visual storytelling, with an emphasis on creating space for reflection and dialogue. Wes is committed to contributing to the broader conversation about Indigenous perspectives in contemporary art, and his evolving practice continues to push the boundaries of photography as a medium for self-expression and cultural representation.
